Trek to Ratangad on 14th August 2016 with Vibes Outdoors

Dear Vibers ,

We are glad to invite you for  trek to Ratangad on 14th  August 2016.

Brief Introduction about Ratangad: -
Region: Igatpuri
Fort Height: 4225 ft.
Type: Hill
Grade: Medium

Base Village : Ratanwadi
District: Ahmednagar As the name speaks, Ratanad is described as “Jewel Fort of Sahayadri”. It gets the name as it is origin for the river “Amrutvahini”. Located in the district of Ahmednagar, it stands tall to 4255 feet above mean sea level. The fort is about 2000 years old and is situated at banks of Bhandardara lake.

The main attraction of this fort is “Amurteshwar” temple which falls into “Hemadpant Era” ( way back to eighth century ). It truly defines the ancient sculpture of our great ancestors due to it’s carving.

Ratangad is a natural rock peak with a cavity at top that measure 10 feet high and 60 feets wide, thus forming a needle eye sort of appearance called as “Nedhe”. This is caused due to Wind Erosion and one can experience the nature’s power over there.
It has a water cistern which is usually filled with water throughout the year and was one of the largest rainwater catchment area for its time.  Fort has a main entrance called as “Tryambak Darwaza.” Also we have some remains of smaller entrance to the fort called as “Chor Darwaza”. Two ladders have been added to provide easy access to the main fort area.

Trek to Harishchandragad via Pachnai on 9th and 10th July 2016 with Vibes Outdoors

Hello Vibers,
We are glad to invite you for trek to Harishchandragad via Pachnai on 9th and 10th July 2016.

Harishchandragad-The fort is quite ancient. Remnants of Microlithic man have been discovered here. The various Puranas (ancient scriptures) like Matsyapurana, Agnipurana and Skandapurana include many references about Harishchandragad. Its origin is said to have been in 6th century, during the rule of Kalchuri dynasty. The citadel was built during this era. The various caves probably have been carved out in the 11th century. In these caves are idols of Lord Vishnu. Though the cliffs are named Taramati and Rohidas, they are not related to Ayodhya. Great sage Changdev (one who created the epic “Tatvasaar”), used to meditate here in 14th century. The caves are from the same period. The various constructions on the fort and those existing the surrounding region point to the existence of diverse cultures here. The carvings on the temples of Nageshwar (in Khireshwar village), in the Harishchandreshwar  temple and in the cave of Kedareshwar indicate that the fort belongs to the medieval period, since it is related to Shaiva, Shakta or Naath. Later the fort was under the control of Moguls. The Marathas captured it in 1747.

Tour to Velas Turtle Festival on 27th-28th February,2016 with Vibes Outdoors

Dear Vibers,
We are glad to invite you for Velas Turtle Festival on 27th-28th February,2016

The places that will be visiting are:

1. Velas Beach – Turtle Festival visit   2. Bankot Fort  3. Harihareshwar Temple
Velas Beach : Velas is the birth place of Nana Phadnis, one of the great prominent personalities in Maratha history. Due to the sea-shore Velas is an existing place and it is situated near Bankot Bay. There is an old temple of Shri Bhairi- Rameshwar and in this temple all twelve months water is made available taking the benefit of favorable geographical conditions. A statue of Nana Phadnis  is present outside his house. In Velas Mahalakshmi temple and Nana Phadnis house are the places to visit. Gokulashtami Festival is one of the important festival in Velas. Velas is also one of the popular breeding sites of Olive Ridley, which is an endangered species of turtle. The hatchlings are heading towards the sea from the shore now-a-days.

Bankot Fort: Bankot is a square shaped fort. On the sides of Bankot fort, there is a dry moat (Revni) dug out in the Jambhya stone. Jambhya stone is peculiar type of stone adorning a purple shade and peculiarly it is incapable of storing water as the water invariable percolates through it owing to its much porous nature. The main entrance (Mahadarwaja) of the fort is north-facing with a well sculpted arch and carvings. Watch guards dug out (Devdya) align on both sides of the Mahadarwaja with some pits being dug out in the right Devdi. On the left, there are steps leading towards Nagarkhana while there is an underground storey and a tunnel on the right. A Maruti idol in the centre stands deserted now. On the west, there is a small entrance (Darwaja) leading to a Bastion on the exterior of the fortifications. A deep well (now dry and filled) occupied the centre of this bastion earlier and the adjacent water tanks too are dry and obsolete now. Trek to Harishchandragad via Pachnai (Monsoon Special) on 18-19th July 2015 with Vibes Outdoors

Hello Vibers,
We are glad to invite you for trek to Harishchandragad via Pachnai on 18th and 19th July 2015.
